It all started in 2015 when founder, and current Managing Director Paul Hobson utilised his experience in construction, boatbuilding and construction consumable retailing and a passion for the outdoors created HOBBITZ as a reseller of artificial grass and associated products.

As Paul’s previous business Sea Otter, Chesterfield-based aluminium boat builder, wound down its business at the back-end of the financial crisis in 2018 when the market suffered a huge hit on new boat orders. For a while Sea Otter continued to restore and repair previous stock bought from them, however Paul looked to diversify and put his skills to another sector. This was how HOBBITZ was born.

He started to supply and install artificial grass, used on the boats, in domestic properties and commercial buildings. Providing homeowners and business owners with the right materials and equipment to maintain their grass once installed.

From this, Paul then branched out into designing and constructing hard landscaping projects such as composite and wood decking, and soft landscaping such as contemporary borders and shrubbery to accompany the grass installations.

Now he and the HOBBITZ team are working on all aspects of connecting outdoor and indoor spaces within the domestic and commercial setting.
